Pickup instead of a fixed picnic setup
Pickup gives you control over the location and pace of the day. Choose an available pickup point, collect the packed basket and take it somewhere picnicking is permitted. You are not restricted to a styled table or a two-hour photo window.
That freedom also means choosing the park responsibly. The City of Calgary lists reservable picnic areas and park amenities, but a reservation is not required for every casual picnic. Check signs, current park notices and facility availability before leaving.
If you need exclusive use of a designated site, use the City's booking system. Reservable sites are assigned in six-hour time blocks and require advance notice, according to the current City picnic-site booking page.
